Home truths – Stabal Iwrch

We want you to know exactly what you’re getting when you book your stay at Stabal Iwrch so we’ve tried to be completely honest in our description of the place.

Stabal was originally the stable and hayloft to the farm. We have kept many of the original features including the original wooden A-frames in the roof, which are now a feature in the bedrooms. This does mean that the ceiling height of the bedrooms is a little lower than usual (although Ioan, the owner, is well over 6ft and easily manages not to bump his head in the shower!).

The king sized bed is also slightly lower than a standard bed just so that it fits in under the eaves – a quirky little feature that’s a novelty for most of our guests, but might be something to think about for anyone with bad knees!

Mobile phone reception tends to come and go at Moel yr Iwrch. There is usually no signal inside the cottages but you can make calls a short walk up the road or in the field next to the cottage. Our house landline is always available in an emergency.

Washing Machine & Dryer.  These are located in a little outhouse which is accessed directly from Stabal Iwrch’s garden. These facilities are shared with guests staying in Hafod Iwrch cottage next door. Some non-bio washing powder is supplied for you to use.

Dog friendly. Dogs are very welcome at Stabal Iwrch. We do, however, respectfully ask that owners consider carefully whether their dog/s are suited to be staying on a working form.  Our cottages are surrounded by open fields and there are a lot of things to chase – sheep, chickens, cats, horses, children… There is an enclosed garden directly outside the cottage’s back door and a fenced off paddock directly off the garden where you can exercise your dog under supervision. There are lots of walks in and around Betws y Coed where your dog/s can run off the lead.
We charge a fee of £30 per dog per stay.
