Stabal Iwrch is a cosy 2 bedroom pet friendly cottage offering luxury 4* self catering accommodation for up to 4 people and 2 dogs. It has a traditional feel, combining the original features of its past life as a stable, with all the modern conveniences you’d expect of a 4* cottage.
You’ll feel at home straight away in this welcoming cottage. Step over the threshold into Stabal’s spacious lounge area where you’ll find the seating area surrounding the flat screen tv and wood burning stove. Curl up on the three seater leather sofa or the cosy armchair and chill out in front of a crackling log fire. You’ll find a selection of jigsaws and board games hidden away in the rustic pitch pine sideboard, along with a library of paperbacks and magazines – perfect for a cosy evening in. In the warmer months, throw open the glazed patio door to bring the outside in. Listen to the chorus of birdsong, bleating lambs and leaves rustling in the wind – that unique countryside melody that’s so good for our souls.
Stabal’s roomy farmhouse kitchen is equipped with everything that you might need to cater for a family or just a couple. The oak table and chairs take centre stage in front of the original stone archway, with large patio doors opening out to the front courtyard.

A wooden staircase takes you up from the lounge to an upstairs landing which has two bedrooms and a bathroom leading from it.
Bedroom 1 has a super comfy king sized bed with crisp Egyptian cotton bedding, a large oak chest of drawers, a hanging rail, a flat screen TV and an en-suite shower room with a luxurious rain shower
Bedroom 2 has super comfy twin beds with crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen, a couple of oak chests of drawers, a hanging rail and a glazed door leading out onto external stone steps which were originally the steps to the hay-loft.
The main bathroom has a large double bath with a shower attachment. It’s big enough for two and a large skylight window above lets you gaze at the stars while enjoying a hot soak – open the skylight wide and you’ll feel like you’re in an outdoor hot-tub!
A compact en-suite with a rain shower serves the double bedroom.
A glass door leads from the lounge area into an enclosed back garden with a slate patio and garden furniture – an ideal place to relax and enjoy your peaceful surroundings.
The garden gate leads straight out into open fields with a public footpath and lots of circular walks that take in the breathtaking views of Snowdonia.
A washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the outhouse in the garden (shared facility with Stabal’s neighbour Hafod Iwrch).
The environmentally friendly under floor heating gives a lovely even heat throughout the cottage, whilst a wood burning stove provides additional heat if needed.
We want you to know exactly what you’re getting when you book your stay at Stabal Iwrch so we’ve tried to be completely honest in our description of the place.
Stabal was originally the stable and hayloft to the farm. We have kept many of the original features including the original wooden A-frames in the roof, which are now a feature in the bedrooms. This does mean that the ceiling height of the bedrooms is a little lower than usual (although Ioan, the owner, is well over 6ft and easily manages not to bump his head in the shower!).
The king sized bed is also slightly lower than a standard bed just so that it fits in under the eaves – a quirky little feature that’s a novelty for most of our guests, but might be something to think about for anyone with bad knees!
Wi-fi – our rural location means we can only offer limited free wi-fi to our guests. It’s fine for checking emails, Facebook, and browsing the web, but not so good for watching videos, playing online games or downloading large files. There are a number of cafes nearby which offer free unlimited wi-fi.
Mobile phone reception tends to come and go at Moel Yr Iwrch. There is usually no signal inside the cottage but you can make calls a short walk up the road or in the field next to the cottage. Our house landline is always available in an emergency.
Dog friendly. Dogs are very welcome at Stabal Iwrch. We do, however, respectfully ask that owners consider carefully whether their dog/s are suited to be staying on a working form. Our cottages are surrounded by open fields and there are a lot of things to chase – sheep, chickens, cats, children…… There is an enclosed garden and paddock directly outside the cottage’s back door where you can exercise your dog. There are lots of walks in and around Betws y Coed where your dog/s can run off the lead.
We charge a fee of £5 per dog per night or £25 per dog per week.
Check in time is from 4pm and we kindly ask that you check out by 10am.
Large groups. All three of our cottages can be let together to sleep a maximum of 12 people – an ideal setting for a Christmas or New Year family get together.
Additional guests. Should you have friends or family that wish to join you during your stay we are able to offer additional accommodation for up to two people in ‘Y Granar’, our self contained double suite which is adjoined to our farmhouse. Affording a large double room with a sofa and flat screen TV, an en-suite bathroom and it’s own private entrance, ‘Y Granar’ offers guests their own private space while they can join you in your cottage for meals and family get togethers. Please contact us for further details and prices.
